The famous Azar manuscript was acquired in 1929 by Georg Morgenstierne in the Kati village of Kalash Valley, Chitral. Written in 1908 by a young pagan convert to Islam, it describes Kati (one of the pagan tribe) culture in detail, including rituals, politics, economy and law. Edited by Alberto M. Cacopardo and Ruth Laila Schmidt, it includes translation, photographs, maps and the original manuscript reproduction.
