The book is the result of an ethnohistorical research focused on the oral traditions of four small linguistic minorities, Dameli, Palula, Jashi & Gawar, in Chitral, Northern-Pakistan, hitherto virtually unknown to ethnography. Aims of the research were the reconstruction of the process of Islamization of the area and the investigation of the nature of the pre-Islamic religions formerly practiced there.
